Our Future:
Building a Youth Wellbeing Framework
for the Bega Valley
Youth Wellbeing Officer Robin Spinks reports
Our young people are the future of the Bega Valley. Today’s young people face a unique set of challenges and opportunities. While technology and access to information have opened doors, we also see concerning trends like rising anxiety and isolation.
As part of the ‘Living Well in the Bega Valley’ initiative, we’re developing a Youth Wellbeing Framework to help understand and support our young people. This framework will aim to:
Establish a baseline: We’ll focus on key indicators like health, education, and economic wellbeing to create a clear picture of youth needs in our region.
Centre youth voices: We believe young people should be active participants in shaping their future. We’ll create opportunities for them to share their perspectives and contribute to the framework’s development.
Facilitate constructive dialogue: We aim to move beyond generalizations and focus on practical solutions to support youth wellbeing.
We want to create a community where young people are heard, supported, and empowered. By working together, we can build a sustainable future for generations to come.
